Milestone 1: Parent/Child Dedication
Our Parent/Child Dedication service is Milestone 1 for families.. This family dedication service is preceded by a one-hour class led by one of our pastors the week prior. We seek to help parents and guardians lead as primary disciple-makers in the home and this service is a part of that strategy. This is a milestone with the church body and thus only parents/guardians who are members of the church participate.

Pure Religion Sunday
Rooted in James 1:27 and reflected throughout all of Scripture, this special day encourages our church to engage deeply in adoption, foster care, global orphan care and wrap-around family support — central to living as disciples of Christ. We are joining churches in over 120 countries that have witnessed the transformative power of this day to catalyze action and celebrate all that God is doing in their communities on behalf of vulnerable children and families. For our church, this is the launch of our “Christmas in Haiti” initiative. Funds donated from now through Christmas for Haiti will go to support the children and our workers at Cabaret Haiti Mission.

Our Surviving the Holidays video seminar is especially for people who are grieving a loved one’s death. You’ll learn:
How to deal with the many emotions you’ll face during the holidays
What to do about traditions and other coming changes
Helpful tips for surviving social events
How to discover hope for your future
This is a free event. A workbook will be provided. You do not have to be a member or First Baptist Church to attend. You do not have to have attended a GriefShare group prior to attend.
We will meet in our church library, located in Building C, directly behind our worship center.
Fifth Sunday Family Worship
On each 5th Sunday of a month, we will not offer preschool groups during the morning worship service. Rather, we invite parents to bring their little ones to worship with them. We understand that this is not common in church today, but we believe that there is great benefit and blessing for all ages to gather together for worship. Yes, even preschoolers. So, bring your babies, toddlers, the two-, three-, and four-year-olds to worship with you. Don’t worry, we’re ready and they will NOT be a distraction. What a joy to have the littlest in our families sitting beside (or running down an aisle, maybe) while their parents and grandparents and church family members worship next to them.

Milestone 4: Purity for Life
During junior high, it becomes obvious that we must address “SEX” from a biblical perspective. Our student ministry partners with parents by teaching students the importance of accountability, healthy friendships, and biblical standards for purity. At the same time we think it is much more important for students to learn these principles from their parents. We coach parents to focus on these issues in faith talks and intentional conversations before, and throughout the junior high/middle school years.
This seminar covers topics like: The Biblical Standard For Purity, Spiritual Training of Teens: Parent Roles and Church Roles, Identity in Christ, Accountability and Communication.
This conference is FREE and is for parents of students in junior high school.

Milestone 5: Biblical Manhood & Womanhood
A child moving into adulthood is a significant event. Biblically, we must equip our children to become men and women of God. Age 16 is a significant time of freedom in our culture. Milestone 5 is about becoming a man or woman of God. Our parents’ seminar we will equip you to disciple your freshmen and sophomore students for adulthood. Issues such as spiritual gifts, the roles of men and women, spiritual disciplines, service in the church, dealing with failure, and other biblical issues will be explored. We teach parents to host a very special “Rite of Passage” ceremony as the discipleship process has been completed and the student prepares for adulthood.
This seminar is for parents and we will provide resources for each family’s rite of passage event.
DiscipleNow 2026
This is our annual spring discipleship weekend. Our theme is EXCHANGE.

High School Senior Summit
Our high school senior summit is an annual family equipping event that takes place before high school graduation. Parents, pastors, and student leaders share a meal together. Students will be charged by our student ministry staff as they close this chapter of life and embark on the next.
The focal point of the Senior Summit is a time for parents to read their pre-written blessing over them. We provide resources for families to lead in this time as they prepare for the following Sunday’s high school graduate recognition.
Milestone 6: High School Graduate Recognition
Milestone 6 takes place on Sunday morning. During this service, along with the recognition prior, we thank God for our high school graduates and recognize them at the beginning of our worship service, with a time of prayer and public blessing.

Love Where We Live on October 31
We encourage members of FBCOP to love where we live on October 31 by intentionally and strategically using the day to meet neighbors, serve them, and either begin or grow relationships. People matter and this day provides an opportunity to show love to neighbor and to begin or continue gospel conversations with them. So, there is no event on the church property this evening, but there will be many events with the church as our family members are “being the church” where they live.
HOW TO LOVE WHERE WE LIVE ON OCTOBER 31…
Pray for those in your neighborhood. Pray for new relationships and for existing ones to grow.
Be intentional. Be real. Be the neighbor others want.
Don’t let Halloween be the only time you engage with your neighbors intentionally. Be prepared to have gospel conversations.
PLEASE DON’T…
Turn off your porch light as a protest to the holiday.
Hand out Bible tracts instead of candy.
Hand out candy alternatives (toothbrush, fruit, healthy snacks.) Let parents determine.
Scare children or prank people as they come to your house.
SOME IDEAS…
Provide bottled water, soft drinks, or hot chocolate to parents.
If you live on cul-de-sac, work with your neighbors to provide a group event.
Create a photo booth. Don’t take pics on your phone, but provide a “selfie booth.”
Carpool with neighbors to places that are providing large events.
Give out glowsticks or glow-in-the dark necklaces in addition to candy.
Give out the good candy. Ask a kid.
AFTERWARD…
HELP CLEAN UP - You may have that neighbor who goes all out with decorations. Offer to help with the clean up or taking down of the items.
BE A FRIEND - You may meet neighbors you have lived near for a while. Learn their names and seek ways to serve them. Love your neighbors, but not as a project. Live out your faith.

See You at the Pole
See You at the Pole (SYATP) is a global prayer event led by junior high and senior high students (not teachers, pastors, youth leaders, or any other adults) at the students’ respective junior high & senior high campuses. Students will gather at their respective schools’ flagpole 30 minutes prior to school beginning to pray for their schools, their teachers, their leaders, and fellow students.
SYATP is NOT a political protest. It is not a patriotic gathering. It is not any one church’s youth ministry’s platform. It is a student-led prayer gathering AND IT IS LEGAL, as long as it is student-led and student-planned. We encourage our students to participate this year.
