MEN’S GROUP BEGINNING IN AUGUST 2026

LIMITED TO 10 MEN WHO ARE MEMBERS OF FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH

Getting a first down in football is hard. Sure, from the stands it looks easy at times, but to be in the trenches trying to move forward takes effort, endurance and strength.

Spiritual growth is similar in that progress is often slow and comes with effort. While we do not sanctify ourselves, that is the Lord’s work, we do play a part in spiritual growth and maturity. Too often we do not challenge ourselves or each other to do hard things to grow spiritually.

Therefore, we are starting a new men’s group called First & 10. This is a men’s group that is committing to growing spiritually through reading and community.

OUR PLAYBOOK: Beginning in August we will begin our journey by reading one book a month for ten months. We will gather monthly to reflect on what we have read and to think about how to apply it to our lives, our church, our marriages, our parenting or grand-parenting, and our growth in Christlikeness.

Reading is a discipline and can be a challenge. Our screen devices have trained us to have short attention spans. Thus, spending time to sit and engage with a book is a practice many are losing. For those considering joining our team… don’t out kick your coverage. For some of you, committing to reading ten books in ten months is just too much right now. Consider the commitment needed.

For others, if you have a desire to tak the challenge, to grow personally and together, and are willing to fight for the next ten yards in your spiritual journey, join us as we press forward for the kingdom by growing in Christlikeness. This monthly gathering will be led by Associate Pastor Mike Godfrey.
